Interpretation and Validity of Tests
The usefulness of the tests will depend on the ability of the evaluator, and his experience, to predict the behavior of an individual, based on information about the behavior of the person and their responses or results in certain situations. The answers to the questionnaires will allow to know the personality traits, attitudes, intelligence and other aspects of an emotional nature of the candidate. These conclusions are the support for decision making or classification within a category.
According to the specific objectives of the evaluation carried out, we can classify the tests as follows:
1- Acquired Knowledge Test
Knowledge tests are used to estimate the level of the respondent in a specific area, so they are applied as an indicator of prior learning and as an index to predict future successes.
2- Aptitude Test
These predict future performance in an area in which the individual has not yet been trained. Schools, private companies and public institutions use them to assign specific positions to each applicant.
3- Intelligence Test
Intelligence tests measure the global capacity of an individual to relate to his environment.
4- Attitude and Interest Test
Attitude tests, used in vocational guidance, can predict future satisfaction rates in a given activity. The self-application questionnaires are carried out by the individual himself, who indicates his preferences among a series of professional activities. These assessments will serve to organize work groups and schedule trainings.
5- Psychometric Personality Test
These types of tests measure the social and emotional adjustment of the person and are used to identify if there is a need for psychological help. Its items briefly describe typical feelings, attitudes and behaviors that will allow to create the profile of the subject's personality.
6- Projective Test
With this type of exercises, trends of ideas or behaviors are deduced, since their conclusions are supported by personal or subjective responses.
